• Eggs are passed in the feces of infected individuals  

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS.

• Pulmonary ascariasis – Cough with blood-stained sputum
• Eosinophilia.
• Abdominal pain/ Intestinal obstruction 
• Steatorrhea and diminished vitamin A absorption

DIAGNOSIS.

• Fecal smear examination- to look for eggs
• X ray for abdominal conditions

TREATMENT.

• Albendazole (400 mg PO as a single dose).
• Or Mebendazole (100 mg bid for 3 days) orally
• Or Pyrantel pamoate (11 mg/kg once; maximum, 1 g) orally.  
• Or Piperazine orally in a daily dose of 50–75 mg/kg for 2 days in severe cases

PREVENTION.

• Repeated doses of anthelmintic at 3–6-mo intervals.
