COMPATIBILITY

Choice of ABO group for blood products for administration to children

• @ Group O fresh frozen plasma (FFP) should only be given to patients of group O.
• Group AB FFP can be given to people of any ABO blood group.
• *Group O components which test negatively for ‘high titre’ anti-A and anti-B should be selected.

QUANTITY-

Red Cell Concentrates

(Desired Haemoglobin – actual Haemoglobin ) x weight x3 (usually 10-20ml/kg)

 Platelets concentrate

Children <15 kg (10-20 ml/kg)

Children > 15 kg single apheresis (approx. 300ml)

Fresh Frozen Plasma

10-20ml/kg

Cryoprecipitate

5-10 ml/kg
